How-To: Duck Feet Nails
We all recognize these nails from Jersey Shore! They are loud and fun! There are two ways to do these nails; with duck feet nail tips or custom build it with forms.
I prefer forms and will be demonstrating them this way. With forms you can make it dramatic or subtle, long or short. With duck feet nail tips you are just stuck with the ones you have. My duck feet nails will be more subtle and average length.
So… lets get started!
Duck Feet Nails Supply List:
- Acrylic Nail Brush
- Clear Acrylic
- Color for the tip; glitter or solid. I am using Shock from Young Nails
- Gel Top Coat
- Nail File
Step 1: Apply your form. With your clear acrylic, build out your tip. Instead of building your acrylic straight out from the cuticle like traditional nails, you will need to fan it out. Beginning at each edge of the side of the nail, bring your acrylic out wide. It’s ok if your lines are not perfect, you just need the general shape.
This is where you must decide if you want a dramatic or subtle shape and length.
Step 2: Apply your color at the tip, keeping the fan shape. This may take 2-3 pearls.
Step 3: These nails tend to be large so you will need 2 pearls of clear acrylic (or pink, your choice) the finish the back part. Put your first pearl along the line of the color and natural nail.
Step 4: Pat it out and feather it down. Make sure the back edge isn’t too thick so it can blend in with your second pearl.
Step 5: Next, apply your second pearl to the back end and blend it into the first one and the tip.
Step 6: Now file into shape. It is important you do not ruin your shape at this point. Keep your file at an angle to keep it fanned out.
Step 7: All Filed!
Step 8: Apply your gel top coat and you are good to go!
You can get really crazy with these duck feet nails. Make them a wide fan and add crazy art and colors! They are definitely bold and beautiful! Play around with it and let me know if you have any questions! Thanks for reading!
